The nominal 8x8x16 block dimensions are actually the standard CMU dimensions of 7 5/8″ x 7 5/8″ x 15 5/8″.

Omni Block is manufactured on the same machines as standard CMU and are of the exact same mix formula as well.

Omni Block units have approximately 7% more material content than standard CMU. Therefore, if a locally produced medium weight standard CMU weighs 32 pounds then a medium weight Omni Block will weigh 34 pounds (note that there are usually three classifications of mix design (normal, medium or lightweight).

The color-coded block units illustrated in this sample drawing shows where the individual units are used within the wall.

Although there are 6 units shown that complete the system, three are primarily used (stretcher, right and left corner/jamb block).

Half blocks are used at all jamb openings the same as they would for standard CMU construction.

If structural engineering calls for two rebar solid-grouted top-of-wall then a standard bond beam block would be substituted for the Omni Block shown. Alternatively, some builders leave the interior cells void of insulation in the top two courses, lay a single rebar in each and then solid grout both courses. This option provides a layer of insulation in the exterior cells of those two courses.

The nominal 12x8x16 block dimensions are actually the standard CMU dimensions of 11 5/8″ x 7 5/8″ x 15 5/8″.

Omni Block is manufactured on the same machines as standard CMU and are of the exact same mix formula as well.

Omni Block units have approximately 9% more material content than standard CMU. Therefore, if a locally produced medium weight standard CMU weighs 52 pounds then a medium weight Omni Block will weigh 57 pounds (note that there are usually three classifications of mix design (normal, medium or lightweight).

The color-coded block units illustrated in this sample drawing shows where the individual units are used within the wall.

Half blocks are used at all jamb openings the same as they would for standard CMU construction.

When structural engineering calls for two rebar solid-grouted top-of-wall, a rebar would be placed on each face of the stretcher block. The jamb block would need to be notched to accommodate the horizontal rebar.

The nominal 8x4x16 block dimensions are actually the standard CMU dimensions of 7 5/8″ x 3 5/8″ x 15 5/8″.

Omni Block is manufactured on the same machines as standard CMU and are of the exact same mix formula as well.

Omni Block units have approximately 4% more material content than standard CMU. Therefore, if a locally produced medium weight standard CMU weighs 16 pounds then a medium weight Omni Block will weigh 17 pounds.

The color-coded block units illustrated in this sample drawing shows where the individual units are used within the wall.

Half blocks are used at all jamb openings the same as they would for standard CMU construction.

When structural engineering calls for two rebar solid-grouted top-of-wall, a rebar would be placed in the top course and the course immediately below, both solid-grouted. Most block plant manufacturers do not make 4″ high bond beam block so the Omni Block stretcher units become the perfect top-of-wall solution.

The nominal 12x4x16 block dimensions are actually the standard CMU dimensions of 11 5/8″ x 3 5/8″ x 15 5/8″.

Omni Block is manufactured on the same machines as standard CMU and are of the exact same mix formula as well.

Omni Block units have approximately 5% more material content than standard CMU. Therefore, if a locally produced medium weight standard CMU weighs 26 pounds then a medium weight Omni Block will weigh 27 pounds.

The color-coded block units illustrated in this sample drawing shows where the individual units are used within the wall.
