The block is a precision white supplied by Cement Products.

The protruding sill is precast concrete ordered to a specific length for all window conditions.

Notice the uniformity of the block dimensions in all locations and instances. The owner/architect designed the home so that all dimensions were 8″ module (divisible by 8″ evenly) thereby eliminating all dimensional cuts. This technique not only is aesthetically pleasing but saves time when laying the block and substantially reduces block waste. 

Design Illustrations

The first step is to put building plans into a SketchUp model. 

Once the design is set the building is built digitally placing each block in the model as though it were being installed in the field. The model ultimately yields exact block counts by each type. A 3% to 5% breakage/mishandling buffer is added to the actual order quantity.

The insulation inserts are calculated from the model quantities.
