Sedona Home – Red Rock Loft

The full photo portfolio is available at this link provided by the owner. The color is Cindrlite’s Black Burnished both sides of the block. Burnished block goes through a precise grinding process that ultimately make the block ultra smooth almost like tabletop granite and exposes the internal aggregate of the block.
The owner was the architect and designer of the home. It serves a family, friend and casual acquaintance getaway in the beautiful red rock boulders and mountains of Sedona, Arizona.

Notice the uniformity of the block dimensions in all locations and instances. The owner/architect designed the home so that all dimensions were 8″ module (divisible by 8″ evenly) thereby eliminating all dimensional cuts. This technique not only is aesthetically pleasing but saves time when laying the block and substantially reduces block waste.

The owner/architect masterfully used the exposed burnished block in walls of shower enclosures. Utilizing the exposed block also saves costs in reducing material and labor finishing those walls. A penetrating water sealer was used to repel water. These sealers work extremely well and most have a 5-year warranty.
These showers also reduced costs by using the concrete flooring as the shower pan requiring only a layer of tile or other coarse non-slip finish.
