Thermally Efficient Insulated Masonry System

Omni Block® is an insulated concrete masonry unit (CMU) system that incorporates molded expanded polystyrene (EPS) inserts within the block cavities to enhance thermal performance.

Based on engineering thermal analysis using published material properties and accepted calculation methods, the 8″ Omni Block system demonstrates an effective steady-state thermal resistance of approximately R-19 to R-21, depending on concrete density.

These values represent calculated assembly performance under steady-state conditions and are not the R-value of the concrete alone or the EPS insert alone.

EPS material used in Omni Block inserts has a typical thermal resistance of approximately R-3.6 to R-4.0 per inch when tested in accordance with recognized ASTM thermal test standards. Assembly performance is derived from component material properties and block geometry modeling.

For energy code compliance, Omni Block assemblies may be evaluated using U-factor calculations, REScheck®, COMcheck®, or other approved modeling tools consistent with IECC and ASHRAE 90.1 provisions for mass wall construction.
